Overview

Students with non-STEM, non-technical bachelor’s degrees (such as Finance, English, Political Science, Marketing, Psychology, and more) have the opportunity to earn a Master of Science in Information Systems (MS in IS) in an accelerated time frame with Northeastern’s Information Systems – Bridge. No pre-Calculus or higher level math required. No programming background required.

Information systems professionals are the knowledge link between business users and technologists by understanding the complexities of both. The profession involves much more than technology, and as industries launch into a digitized future, professionals with a clear understanding of how technology can be used to address large societal challenges are in demand. Students’ undergraduate work in the humanities provides them with a unique perspective and approach in developing systems via a socio-technical lens.

Innovative Curriculum

After completing just two preparatory courses in the MSIS – Bridge, students gain the engineering foundation needed to continue on to the full MS in Information Systems program. GRE scores are waived for students applying to the Bridge program, and after successfully completing the two conditional courses, students are automatically accepted into the MS in IS program. Once in the MS in IS program, students take courses specifically designed to bridge their current professional pursuits with the background and industry knowledge needed to advance in the IT sector.

With the MS in IS program, students embark on an IT leadership pathway as a more evolved, dynamic software engineer. Through an innovative curriculum and an academic program that is both broad and deep, students become problem-solvers who design groundbreaking software solutions that fit within the complexities of the business world and solve the humanistic needs of the people who use them. Students also have the opportunity to participate in Northeastern’s leading cooperative education program, gaining real-world professional experience as part of the academic curriculum.
